November 30th 2010

My Mom received this message from Kelby's mission president.

Dear Sister Turk,

Thank you for raising such a wonderful young man..  Last night we had our first night of street contacting.  Elder Turk was great.  He quickly learned that he can be a bold missionary.  Without hesitation he talked with everyone he could to share the message of the gospel.  He will be a great blessing to the people of Taiwan.

Sincerely,

President Bishop

We haven't heard a whole lot from Taiwan yet, but we know Kelby has had a part in two baptisms so far and another one scheduled for this week : ) he is very excited to be there.

Some of "Tang Zhang Lao's" words from his emails

9-13-10
Wo Zhidao Yesu Jidu shi jiu zhu he jiu shu zhu. Wo zhidao ruo guo women "follow" shen jihua women jiu hui de zhufu.  Wo zhidao Yuese Simi shi xianzhi.  Wo zhidao Duoma Mengsun shi xianzhi. Wo zhidao shen de ai ni. Wo ai ni! Feng Yesu Jidu de ming. Amen.

I know Jesus Christ is my savior and redeemer. I know if you follow Gods plan then you will be blessed. I know Joseph Smith is a prophet. I know Thomas Monson is a prophet. I know God loves you. I love you! In the name of Jesus Christ amen

chinese is coming along but it is soooo tough there are so many words to memorize and different meanings for each word.  We found some taiwanese elders and got some pointers on what to do and how to say stuff and how the culture is and things so it was really good and we helped them with there english it was really cool. The toilet seats are awesoem, they fit right to your buuttiee!!!We had our first teaching appointment on saturday were we taught "investigators" AKA members pretending. We had to do the first gretting and making an appointment in chinese and i think it did pretty well! Then we did the lesson in English and the sprit that was there was so awesome, it felt like my face was on fire!!! I looooove it here but not the food.

9-27-10...
Ya its crazy that i've been here 4 weeks already!!! Only 7 more to go! lol ya things are really good here and the chinese is coming along! We had an amazing fast sunday, we had mission conference and the older missionaries last sacrament meeting and then devotional, then we went and watched the joseph smith story movie.  Mom i want you to know that i have a testimony of Joseph Smith and how we can never understand the suffering he went through, but i know that he restored the fullness of Christs gospel to the earth today!
I know that Jesus Christ atoned for our sins. I know that as we follow his example we will have happiness and joy. I know that Joseph Smith was and is a true prophet of God and he restored His true gospel on the earth! I know that if we put all of our trust in the Lord in all we do we can have strength, even to learn chinese in 11 weeks!
10-4-10... not a whole lot happened this week but conference was AMAZING!!!! If you realize who those men really are that are talking to you it is amazing how lucky we are to have the opportunity to be guided by the Lord through the Prophets.
Well this week was really good we ate pie with the sisters and my chinese is coming along but still has a long way to go! I love this gospel! We went to the temple today and did initatories it was pretty awesome!

10-11-10... Chinese is going great and my spirit is better than ever. We watched a devotional that Elder Holland gave at the mtc in 2006 and it was so amazing he said, never in your life will you be more like an apostle than you are now, we are doing the same things as they are but they have more keys. He said make this the 2 years were you convert yourself, if the only person you convert on your mission is you than that is okay. I love this gospel and i'm so glad i decided to serve a mission! I pray for the Lords help as i learn chinese!

10-18-10... Nothing much new here ostvigs bro snuck us cafe rio and McD's SICKKK!!! I know lol it was awesome.
Wo Ai Ni
